Paint Fire in Calaveras County

   August 14, 2014 at 2:40 PM:  Cal Fire just notified us of the status of the Paint Fire on Paint Drive near Hwy 4 in Angels Camp is still around 5 acres. It is now 40% contained.

   It was started by a man cutting down a tree, lost control of the fall and it hit a power line.

Beaver Fire

    August 14, 2014:  The Beaver Fire is located near the Klamath River in the Klamath National Forest and was started by lightning.

   It is currently 32,283 acres and is 50% contained.

  

Water Bond on California Ballot--$7.5 BILLION for Los Angeles?

   There is no question that it will pass! The big cities outvote us every time. The governor gave his signature to a revised Water Bond to go on the November ballot for $7.5 billion.

   Now, many are asking if the drought is as bad as they have been pushing? Or are they scaring us into voting for it by curtailing our use of water now?

Fires in Klamath National Forest

  August 14, 2014:  According to USFS the Happy Camp Complex Fire (20 fires) which began on August 11, 2014 because of lightning, is now 1200 acres near Happy Camp in the Klamath National Forest.

   It is only 10% contained at this time.

City of Angels Camp Administrator Private Evaluation?

  If you watched the Angels Camp City Administrator  Michael McHatten refer to his proposed 2014-15 budget as a golf game at their last meeting and then make statements like:

Jackson City Council changes meeting

   The Jackson, California City Council is holding their next meeting on August 20, 2014 to consider two appointments to the Council.

   No one else except the incumbents filed to run in November, so now they can simply appoint them.

AT&T Van crashes on Hwy 26

   August 14, 2014:  CHP is en route to the scene of an AT&T while van that reportedly crashed on Hwy 26 at St. Andrews Rd. in Valley Springs around 10:30 AM.

   It was a solo vehicle crash, according to witnesses. Use extra caution if headed to that area.

Tree Down at Ospital near Hwy 12

  County road crews are responding with chain saws to a report of a tree down at Ospital Rd near Hwy 12 in Burson.

   Use caution if headed in that direction until cleared.

Burglary in Mokelumne Hill

  A burglary was reported on August 13, 2014 in Mokelumne Hill at a residence on Hawver Rd.

   The Calaveras Sheriff took a report.

Arrest on Country Club Drive in Arnold

   According to the Calaveras Sheriff, on August 13, 2014 Danny Wayne Jordan (59) was arrested after they received a complaint of a disturbance of screaming and yelling on Country Club Drive in Arnold.

    Jordan was booked into the Calaveras County Jail, received a citation and was released.

Trespassing in Murphys

   Trespassing was reported on August 13, 2014 at a closed business in Murphys that was once Murphys Windows on Big Trees Rd in Murphys. 

   Possibly transients living in the building, according to caller. No report was taken by the Calaveras Sheriff.

Break-in in Mokelumne Hill

  A shed and motorhome were reported broken into on August 13, 2014 by a resident on Hwy 49 in Mokelumne Hill.

   The Calaveras Sheriff took a report.

Be cautious of telephone scams

   The Calaveras Sheriff received a complaint from a resident on Seagale Rd in Avery about a telephone scam involving the IRS.

   Do not give out any personal information on a telephone call of this type. Be careful. The IRS will send you a letter if you owe them anything.

Burson Woman Arrested

  According to the Calaveras Sheriff, Jacqueline Ann Rosofsky (33) of Burson, was arrested in Burson for alleged Prohibited Ammunition, a felony and for Possession of a Stun Gun by a felon, a misdemeanor.

   In addition Rosofsky had three outstanding warrants for alleged Felony violation of Probation, according to the arrest record.  She was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.
