Ward Fire in Plumas National Forest

   As of 10 AM on April 15, 2015 the Ward Fire, which began on private land but escaped into the Plumas National Forest is now 80% contained.

    It has so far burned 157 acres and is the first Northern California wildfire we have covered in 2015. We are certain it will not be the last.

CHP: "Alcohol factor in Coulterville collision"

   According to CHP on April 14, 2015 James E. Atkins (29) of Moccasin was driving his 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup on Hwy 120 westbound at a speed unsafe for roadway conditions.

Two vehicles end up in field in Patterson

   April 15, 2015 at 9:40 AM:  Two vehicles collided at Grayson Road and Cox Road in Patterson and both ended up out in a field.

   An ambulance and two tow trucks are en route to the scene.

Big Rig overturned near Vernalis

   April 15, 2015 at 8:30 AM:  A traffic collision between a van and a big rig hauling wine occurred on Hwy 132 near South River Road just outside Vernalis.  An ambulance is responding to the scene.

   The big rig with a 53' trailer is overturned blocking Hwy 132.  Reportedly the Astro van turned in front of the big rig.  Traffic is backed up. Avoid the area.

Canoemobile takes kids down Consumnes River

   About 350 elementary and middle school students from the Galt School District will be taking a trip down the Consumnes River by Canoemobile, a self-paddled boat, as guests of the Bureau of Land Management.

   This will happen on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 9 AM to 1:45 PM and on Friday April 17, 2015 from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.   for information on the BLM wilderness outreach program call Harry Quillen at 916-683-1701.
  

Bale of Hay on Hwy 108

   April 14, 2015 at 2:15 PM:  CHP has been informed of a bale of hay on Hwy 108 at Atlas Road in Oakdale, that cars are swerving to miss.

  Be careful if headed to that area until cleared.

Motorcycle Collision on Phoenix Lake Road

   According to CHP on April 13, 2015 around 5:34 PM Aaron Pingree (46) of Sonora was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 eastbound on Phoenix Lake Road at approximately 25-30 MPH.

    Nicholas Landuyt (27) of Sonora was driving a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle 

Big Rig blocking Hwy 49 in Moke Hill area

   UPDATE at  1:45 PM:  Hwy 49 is now open in both directions after nearly 5 hours.

  UPDATE:  This has been cleared and the roadway is now open.

Tree falls on Hwy 124 in Ione

   April 14, 2015 at 11 AM:  CHP just received a report of a very large tree that has fallen across Hwy 124 at Brickyard Road in Ione.

   Avoid the area until it can be cleared. It is blocking both lanes apparently.

Fire on Whttle Road near Frogtown

       According to a CalFire report, on April 13, 2015 around 2:30 PM a debris burn was reported as   escaped in the 3000 block of Whittle Road near Frogtown, and 4 CalFire units and both Altaville and Angels Camp Fire Departments responded.

    The fire was contained to about 1 1/4 acres of grass vegetation.  Crews stayed at the scene until around 1:30 AM on April 14, 2015.

Multiple rollover collision down steep embankment

     According to CHP on April 14, 2015 around 7:55 PM Ronald N. Richarson (41) of Sonora was driving his 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche on South Fork Road  in the Phoenix Lake area, southbound at a speed in excess

Smoking causes house fire in Soulsbyville

   On April 10, 2015 around 11 AM, Cal Fire reports that they responded to a call of a fire in a house in the 20000 block of Kints Court in Soulsbyville.

   They were able to extinguish the fire, but damage to the furniture and flooring was around $1000. A cigarette was determined to be the cause of the fire.
