Flooding on the 99 Freeway?

   August 2, 2014 at 9:35 AM:  CHP received a report of flooding at Mariposa and the 99 Freeway in Stockton. Certainly couldn't be rain related!

   Not sure what the cause is, but San Joaquin County Road department has been called out.

Pit Bull reported in roadway, aggressive

   August 2, 2014 at 9:30 AM:  An aggressive pit bull has been reported in the roadway on Signal Hill Trail in Copperopolis.

   Person reporting says it has bitten several people in the past, and asked for help. CHP is en route to the area.

Although the thunderstorms started a few new fires,

Suspicious man at Valley Springs Elementary

   According to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office, they were dispatched to Valley Springs Elementary School on July 31, 2014 at 8:10 AM to investigate a report of a female student being coaxed

Fire at Don Pedro

Cal Fire reports that on July 31, 2014 at 12:30 PM, they were called to a vegetation fire in the 9000 block of Old Don Pedro Road in Tuolumne County.

   Units from both Calaveras and Tuolumne counties responded, along with air support.  The cause of the first was determined to be lightning. 10 acres were burned and one firefighter was injured before it was extinguished.

Foresta residents may return home later today

   The El Portal Fire in Yosemite is now 58% contained and as of 3 PM August 1, 2014, residents of Foresta are being allowed to return to their homes.

   4,198 acres have burned and 3 firefighters have been injured on this fire.

French Fire in Sierra National Forest

   August 1, 2014 at 8 AM:  The French Fire in the Sierra National Forest has grown to 8,207 acres and is only 15% contained.

Burglary in Jenny Lind

  A burglary was reported to the Calaveras Sheriff on July 31, 2014 by a resident on Live Oak Lane in Jenny Lind.

   The Sheriff's Office took a report.

Statue stolen from Catholic Church

   The Catholic Church in Murphys reported on July 31, 2014 that a statue had been stolen from the wall of the church hall.

     The Calaveras Sheriff took a report.

Calaveras Sheriff reports "man down"!

  August 1, 2014 at 9:26 AM:  In Copperopolis a report of a "man down" in Copperopolis at the CalTel station near the Copperopolis Fire Station.

   An ambulance has been dispatched to the scene.

Neverland Ranch may be sold

   The investors who purchased Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch may be putting it up for sale.

   Complete with exotic zoo and amusement park rides, it was Jacksons dream property which he sold to the investor in 2008 when he ran out of money.

Angels Camp City Council meets

   On Tuesday, August 5, 2014, after three Closed Session items, at 4:30 PM the City Council of Angels Camp will hold a Budget Workshop, to consider items and give direction prior to formal approval. 

      The Regular Agenda begins at 6 PM, and if the Budget Workshop was not completed, will continue as the first item of business.  Drought restrictions will be implemented on another agenda item of 20% cut plus other new rules regarding water usage.


Fire in Modoc County

   Mandatory evacuations are occurring in the area of the Day Fire, as the fire is now 4500 acres and is only 5% contained.

   This fire was caused by lightning, and thunderstorms have continued in that area.  Over 200 homes are currently threatened.
  
  

Porsche Driver chased down by CHP

    On July 31, 2014 at around 8:45 AM Sonora CHP Officer M. McDaniel, was in full uniform and driving a marked black and white CHP patrol vehicle.
