Porsche Driver chased down by CHP

On July 31, 2014 at around 8:45 AM Sonora CHP Officer M. McDaniel, was in full uniform and driving a marked black and white CHP patrol vehicle.

Officer McDaniel was stopped on the north shoulder of Hwy 108, west of Twain Harte Drive, monitoring traffic and observed a silver Porsche traveling westbound on Hwy 108 approaching his location.

The officer noticed the Porsche had a paper dealer plate displayed in the rear which matched the description of a vehicle that fled Tuolumne County Sheriff deputies on July 30, 2014.

The officer followed the Porsche which had its convertible top down.  the officer observed the driver to be a white male approximately 40 years of age, with curly light brown hair with a dark haired passenger in the right front seat.

As the Porsche turned north onto Soulsbyville Road, the officer activated the patrol vehicles' emergency lights.

The Porsche then turned into a Chevron gas station located on Soulsbyville Road and then rapidly accelerated through the parking lot.

The Porsche nearly collided with several people standing outside of their vehicles before exiting the parking lot and traveled southbound on Soulsbyville Road at a high rate of speed.

The Porsche turned eastbound onto Hwy 108, failing to stop at the red traffic signal, according to the report, then accelerated to approximately 90 MPH in the 65 MPH zone on Hwy 108.

As the Porsche approached two vehicles traveling side by side in the number one and two lanes, it traveled to the left of the solid yellow lines in order to pass the vehicle traveling in the number one lane.

The Porsche turned eastbound onto Twain Harte Drive and then westbound onto Hunts Road.

Officer McDaniel lost sight of the Porsche while traveling westbound on Hunts Road and cancelled the pursuit.

With some great investigation work by the CHP, we were able to locate who the registered owner of the vehicle was and confirm he was the driver of the Porsche at the time of the pursuit.

Sonora CHP contacted the Modesto CHP office and requested units to go to his residence.  As units were on scene, the vehicle driven by Tracy Mccarroll  (41) of Modesto, pulled into the driveway.

The Modesto CHP units arrested Mccarroll and Officer McDaniel transported him back to Tuolumne County for alleged felony evading charges and also a warrant.
