Letter to Editor: Pedestrians on O'Byrnes Ferry Lake Tulloch Bridge

Dear Editor,

On a recent return trip home driving from Yosemite to Copperopolis I took the sharp turn that descends down to the  O'Byrnes Ferry Bridge on Lake Tulloch to encounter a very dangerous situation.  Driving this area requires a series of hairpin turns and of course slow speeds, as low as 15mph when approaching the bridge.

Op-Ed About Calaveras County Planning, OR NOT!

Bad Planning is Courtesy of Calaveras
 County Board of Supervisors?
And a Little About Bump Parties.....and horses
 Dear Editor
For the record, I have no issue with Bump Parties.  Certainly I support the rights of a business owner to find new and inventive ways to generate income during this economic crisis.  Bump parties are for grown ups.  Alcohol is served, people behave badly.  Don't go there expecting My Little Pony World.

Bricks Causing Hazard in San Andreas!

A few minutes ago, CHP reported that a traffic hazard at the Hwy 49 an Hwy 26 intersection may cause delays. An officer was enroute to remove bricks from the roadway. Use caution in that area.

UPDATE: By 4:30 PM CHP had cleared the road and the hazard for Hwy 49 was removed.

Does Anyone Recognize This Bird?

Can't find my bird book. Does anyone know what kind
of bird the one in the center is? Looks so much like an Oriole
but i know it isn't.

Fireworks Not Banned in Angels Camp

All over the U.S. fires are started by
children playing with fireworks when
there are no laws against them.
Although the City Council of Angels Camp insisted that it is debris burning that causes out-of-control fires in Angels Camp, we foundabsolutely no record of it.
Instead, we found that there were many fires caused by Fireworks. We pointed this out to the City Council during their deliberations on their Permit requirement for residents.

City Administrator Responds to "Trail" Complaint

Come on, you can pay more!
Michael McHatten, Angels Camp City Administrator later yesterday  responded to our repeated e-mails, stating that he has been out sick and not answering e-mails.
He also said he wasn't ...'sure what the question was, but the trail is years from happening and any path has to be negotiated, planned and developed; it just doesn't happen."

Letter To Editor: Dog Chained To Tree

Dog Chained To A Tree on Bayview Dr.
In Copperopolis on 100 Degree Day
Dear Sierra Sentinel,
I have been dealing with something that makes me MAD.  A dog chained to a tree in 100 degree heat.  See I live in Copperopolis over near the lake and we have had problems in our neighborhood for over a year with dog owners who dont know how to take care of an animal.

Why Equestrian Trails?

If the County is not going allow horses on R1 land, then why did they approve equestrian trails in subdivisions in Copperopolis and Valley Springs?
And what are "Accepted Farm Practices",  which are   allowed in R1?
These are two of the questions we have of the Planning Director and Code Enforcement Officer at the County. We are awaiting their response to our questions.

Pick Me! Pick Me!

Oh, Please, pick me!!!  I'm waiting at the animal services department at the County and my adoption # is A030333, my lucky number. This place scares me. Please take me home!

Letter to the Editor: Tofanelli's Nice to Some

    Dear Editor:
I realize that Supervisor Tofanelli has a short fuse and doesn't like anyone who disagrees with him, but he's not mean to everyone.
I've seen him be real sweet to some older skinny white haired lady. Why is that? How does he know her and why the difference when certain others come up to speak? Can you answer that?
