Letter To Editor: Dog Chained To Tree

Dog Chained To A Tree on Bayview Dr.
In Copperopolis on 100 Degree Day
Dear Sierra Sentinel,
I have been dealing with something that makes me MAD.  A dog chained to a tree in 100 degree heat.  See I live in Copperopolis over near the lake and we have had problems in our neighborhood for over a year with dog owners who dont know how to take care of an animal.

I am a dog lover and dont usually write letters but I am sick of watching an animal suffer.  I have even went as far as posting a pic on Facebook of this poor dog to get something done.

I can't believe people. My neighbor thinks its perfectly ok to leave her large long hair dog in the 100 degree weather chained to a tree in dust and rock. She has 4 kids who never play with the poor thing what a life just to sit chained to a tree all day and all night without any attention or possibly food or water this makes me sick! This is inhumane!  The other day she yelled at the kids with the dogs still chained to the tree about leaving it out all day without water.  What the heck!  I have had it.... I turned it into Animal Services.

Dont people know its illegal to chain a dog to any object... this very paper has been telling people.  Now everytime it happens I will post a pic to Facebook until I no longer see it happening in my neighborhood. (I wish to remain unnamed for fear of retaliation of any kind including legal as we have had to take the owner to court for letting her dogs roam.)

The world will never be short of idiots, remember there are some people that think mount rushmoore was created by erosion and nature. What I suggest is everyone who cares about. This poor dog do a drive by and if they see it tied up they call the sheriff and humane society after they get 15 or 20 calls a day they will do something about it. I'll start calling.

Sorry, but the county is very busy giving $8000 citations to people with horses on R1 properties even thought R1 properties do not disallow them. You will have to wait to help the poor dog tied to a tree in 100 degree weather until the happy, healthy horses are removed from their yard.

Why cant we just chain the owner to a tree and leave them outside. Sounds about as fair to me?

I don't understand people sometimes. I noticed the obvious comment that you had taken some people to court over their dog roaming the neighborhood, then you are not happy with the dog tied to a tree. My goodness! There are kids starving, and people dying and going to hell everyday, but apparentally a dog with basic neccesities is more important. It looks like the dog at least has shade. Sorry, it seems that you might be picking a bit.

Last comment must be from someone who is illiterate as the story say the dog was without water. Illegal is illegal. Pulling over a drunk driver is that just "picking" since he didnt hit anyone and he has a drivers license? You should be sorry... and what kids are starving in this area and people going to hell sounds like a personal choice? Domestic animals depend on us, people have a voice!
