Deaths in Calaveras County

Car down embankment in Mokelumne Hill

   UPDATE at 5:15 AM:  One person has been taken to the hospital. They are now retrieving the vehicle, which is around 60' down the bank.

   The FBI is hiring around 3000 tech experts and others throughout California.

Arrest for Threatening Crime

   According to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office, on February 5, 2016 a deputy arrested Mark Anthony Andreotti (60) of Copperopolis at Sam Berri's Towing.

   Andreotti was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Threatening a Crime with Intent to Terrorize, a felony. He has since been released on bond.

Amtrak and car collide on Hwy 4

   February 6, 2016 at 11:50 AM:  An Amtrak train and a car have reportedly collided at Hwy 4 and Woodsbro Road outside Stockton.

   The cab of the train is apparently on fire. Emergency personnel are en route. Use extra caution if in that area.

Jeep and Infinity collide in Sonora

   February 6, 2016 at 11:45 AM:  A white Jeep and a white Infinity have reportedly collided on Hwy 108 at Montezuma Junction.

   No injuries were indicated. CHP is en route to the scene.

Snowshoe hikes in Stanislaus Forest

   The US Forest Service has announced that Rangers will lead snowshoe hikes this winter in the Stanislaus National Forest every Saturday at 10 AM weather permitting.

   They will begin in the Dodge Ridge Courtyard and no experience is required. You can rent showshoes.  Call Marie Malo at 209-965-3434 x 5343 for more information.

Collision in Groveland parking lot

   According to a CHP report on February 4, 2016 around 3:10 PM Steve Chapman (67) of Groveland was driving a 2003 GMC pickup northbound through the parking lot of the museum and library near Hwy 120

Bernie Sanders could be first Jewish American President

   On the Democratic side of the 2016 Presidential race, both candidates will set a record of some type.

   Of course, if Hillary Clinton wins, she will  be the first woman President. If Bernie Sanders wins, he will be the first Jewish President.

Hit and Run at Linden Elementary School

   February 5, 2016 at 8:30 AM: A Mustang has reportedly hit another car and left the scene at Linden Elementary School in Linden.

   CHP is en route to the scene. No injuries were indicated.
