Chase ends with arrest in Angels Camp--Kudos to new Calaveras deputy

On October 17, 2020 around 12:20 AM a new deputy, recently graduated from training,

attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on Hwy 4 near Six Mile Road, just east of Angels Camp.

The deputy had observed a vehicle driving recklessly and passing other vehicles over a double solid line.

Patrol vehicle's emergency lights were activated, but the driver refused to yield to the deputy. Turning onto Six Mile Road, he suspect attempted to evade the officer by speeding into Murphys and down Murphys Grade Road.

Other units of the Calaveras Sheriff and CHP were dispatched to assist in the chase and a spike strip was placed at Hwy 4 and Hwy 49.

The vehicle ran over the strip and was eventually stopped near Mark Twain Shopping Center, where he fled on foot

Deputies pursued and captured the suspect and took him into custody. Anthony Lee Wilson Ohare (28) of Sonora was arrested and booked on alleged felony evasion of arrest, possession of Methampetamine, warrants out of Sonora and vehicle theft from Nevada. He is being held on $155,000 bail.
