Traffic Accident in Arnold


    According to CHP, Leland Swindell, 65 of Concord,  was driving a 2003 Toyota Tundra westbound on Hwy 4 at 30 MPH, when he allowed his vehicle to drift onto and across the north paved shoulder and the dirt shoulder and struck a tree stump.
    His vehicle continued in a north-westerly direction and entered the parking lot of the "Simply Delicious" cafĂ© where it collided with a large tree, wooden post and a parked vehicle.
     Mr. Swindell was air lifted to Doctor's Memorial Hospital in Modesto for his injuries.

   Why are there rumors of a Special Meeting for the Board of Supervisors on July 5?    We find nothing on the website or an agenda, and our e-mails to Chair Gary Tofanelli and Clerk Madaline Krska have not yet been returned.

Illegal Possession of a Firearm Arrest in San Andreas


   Joseph Frank Solar, III, of San Andreas was arrested for felony illegal possession of a firearm at the Diamond Place Apartments in San Andreas. on Sunday, July 1, 2012.
    No other details are available at this time.

Two Arrests at Ironstone Over July 1 Weekend

   Two arrests were made at Ironstone Vineyards over the July 1, 2012 weekend by Calaveras County Sheriff's deputies.

Flag Man Hit by Vehicle

       At around 7:30 AM on Monday morning, July 2, 2012, a flag man was hit by a vehicle on Parrotts Ferry Rd and Hwy 4, suffering major injuries, according to the CHP website.  
    When we tried to get more details from the San Andreas CHP office, the Public Affairs officer said she knew nothing about it and that they will have no information until the officer comes back into the office at 5 PM. 
    A CHP officer has now been assigned to assist construction at that location.

     According to the CHP report, Michael B. Tate, 54 of San Jose, was driving  a 2008 Honda Gold Wing around 4 PM on Sunday, July 1, 2012, at approximately 40-45 MPH, when he made an unsafe turning movement.

Asleep at the Wheel on Hwy 4

   According to the CHP, around 6 AM on July 1, 2012, Adrian Reynoso, 24 of Altaville was traveling towards Arnold on Hwy 4, east of Crescent Cove, when he stated that he fell asleep while driving.

Kinkade: "Painter of Light" Had A Dark Side


   Thomas Kinkade, known by millions as the "Painter of Light" died of a massive alcohol and Valium overdose in his mansion in Monte Sereno, a wealth suburb of Los Gatos.  After his wife of 28 years, Nanette, filed for separation in 2010, apparently Kinkade met and allowed a woman named Amy Pinto to move into the Monte Sereno home with him.

Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputy Involved Shooting in Valley Springs
