Holiday's Over--Back to WORK??

   Having a hard time getting back in the workday groove this morning.  All across the county, everyone agrees that this is a sign that summer is nearly over.

   Temperatures are expected to drop back into the 80's later this week, as is expected in September. But will we get some rain soon? We all hope so.

Fire in Sonora

   September 2, 2014 at 6:30 AM:  A fire has been reported at Cedar Road and Cabezut Road in Sonora.  Fire personnel are en route to the area.

   This is near Greenley Road, just like the fire reported last evening. We are not sure if it is a structure fire or a vegetation fire.

Traffic Collision in Valley Springs

   September 1, 2014 at 6:30 PM:  CHP is at the scene of a black Toyota Tacoma pickup that crashed on California Street in Valley Springs.

   No injuries have been reported. Use extra caution if traveling in that direction.

Power lines down in Plymouth

   September 1, 2014 at 4:30 PM:  Power lines are reportedly down on Shenandoah School Road in Plymouth.

   CHP is en route and PG&E has been dispatched. Use extra caution if driving in that area.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" tops box office

   With a weekend total of $22 million "Guardians of the Galaxy" was the winner of the Labor Day Weekend box office.

    Altogether in the five weeks its been open, it has taken in $280 million.

Traffic Hazard on Tulloch Dam Road

   September 1, 2014 at 2:10 PM:  CHP is at the scene of a reported traffic hazard on Tulloch Dam Rd not far from Hwy 108.

   This is on the Tuolumne County side of the Lake. It isn't clear yet what the hazard is, so be cautious if heading for that area.

Traffic backed up at Murphys on 4

   September 1, 2014 at 12:50 PM:  CHP received a call that traffic is beginning to back up at Hwy 4 at the signal in Murphys. They need a CHP unit in the area.

   That was putting it too mildly. We were just told by a person coming up the mountain, that traffic is backed up going down from the signal all the way beyond Forest Meadows.  And it is bound to get worse before it gets better.

Dog House in Slow Lane?

   September 1, 2014 at 11 AM:  Believe it or not, someone has reported that there is a DOG HOUSE in the slow lane of Hwy 99 at the Hwy 120 cutoff in Manteca.

   Possibly someone is trying to get rid of it so they won't have to sleep in it. Use extra caution if headed to that area.

Motorhome Fire at Don Pedro

   September 1, 2014 at 9:40 AM:  A motorhome was reportedly on fire on Hwy 132 near Don Pedro.

   Personnel has been dispatched to the area. One report stated the motorhome fire was put out and it left. Authorities are looking for them.

Traffic Accident/Possible Disturbance

   September 1, 2014 at 8:38 AM:   A traffic accident between a silver Chrysler and a gold Cadillac was reported and apparently all four passengers got out of the car and are having a dispute in the middle of Fink Road and Bell Rd near Crows Landing.

   CHP is en route to the scene. No injuries have been reported.

Israel grabs 1000 acres in West Bank

  Privately held land in the Palestinian West Bank area, were taken over by Israel on August 31, 2014.

   Many world authorities are saying this means that Israel is not interested in a peaceful 2 state solution regarding Palestine.

No Law Enforcement Experience Necessary

   The Calaveras County Sheriff Volunteers Unit is seeking recruits to patrol neighborhoods and man the substations in Calaveras County and retirees are encouraged to apply.
