The Saga of Dusty Costa Part 6

by Dustin Costa in his own words from prison in Colorado

One the prison staff identifies a shot-caller, his days are numbered.  Organizing of any kind is frowned upon by the system.

You want to get a bunch of guys together to present a grievance? You're on a one-way ticket to the hole and, eventually to another, higher security  institution.

Then you'll have even fewer privileges than before you got the bright idea that a strong showing of support would help fix whatever it was you wanted to change, be it food, recreation or TV-viewing hours.

Of course, if there is a riot, the first place prison management will turn for help is - guess who - the shot-callers.

Of all the fascinating stories I could share about my time in Fresno County Jail, there is the tale of the two Lobstermen.

They were in my car (group), so the shot-caller was pretty much out of the loop for these incidents. In other words, I was on my own when it came to the Lobstermen.

(to be continued)
