Distriacted CHP officer causes teen death

Yesterday afternoon, June 7, 2016 around 3:30 PM a CHP officer on I-5 near Orland was distracted by his computer and rear-ended a car, causing it to crash into two other vehicles.

The 17 year old in the back seat of the small car hit by CHP was killed. Others were taken to local hospitals.  I5 was closed until nearly 10 PM and the investigation continues. So far, the CHP officer has not been charged.

Any other citizen using a computer, talking on the phone or plainly not paying attention would be charged with involuntary manslaughter
