Sheriff deputies pursue motorcyclist

According to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office on June 23, 2016 at approximately 10:50 PM deputies observed a motorcycle making unsafe lane changes.

The motorcycle was traveling at speeds greater than 75 MPH and crossing a double  divided highway.

Deputies attempted to conduct an enforcement stop on the violations near Pattison Road and South Camanche Parkway in Burson.

The driver of the motorcycle accelerated in an attempt to flee from the pursuing deputies on South Camanche Parkway towards Hwy 12.

The driver continued through stop signs and passed vehicles at unsafe speeds.  The pursuit traveled through Loki and Stockton areas for a distance of 70 miles.

The pursuit involved up to 3 Calaveras deputies, 6 CHP and a CHP helicopter.

The driver was later identified as 50 year old William Pauley of Lodi.  Pauley was subsequently arrested by CHP for allegedly evading police with disregard for public safety, driving with a suspended license for a DUI, crossing over double yellow lines, excessive speeds, and driving without proper motorcycle endorsement.

Pauley was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
