On December 10, 2021 at around 12:10 AM, while on scene at a prior unrelated non-injury traffic collision, a CHP officer and to truck operator located a 1996 Toyota 50'
down an embankment off Hwy 4 at Big Trees Village Drive.The vehicle was on its side and against a tree, in the brush. It was not visible from the roadway. Unable to access the vehicle, CHP notified Ebbetts Pass Fire and Calfire, who responded to the scene.
After extricating the unnamed male (56) of Avery, from the vehicle, they discovered that he was deceased. The engine was cold, and they believe the car had run off the roadway the day before and they are requesting that anyone who may have seen the collision call CHP at 209-754-3541.
Drugs and or alcohol use is under investigation. The name is being withheld for notification of next of kin.
