On August 2, 2014 at 11:45 AM, Richard Schwartz (70) of Copperopolis was traveling eastbound on Mono Way in his 1997 Dodge Ram pickup just east of Hwy 108 in Sonora, when he allowed the pickup to travel off the right side of the roadway and collide with a metal pole.
The pickup then traveled on, hitting 11 parked cars in the Motherlode Motors parking lot, struck a large sign and then came to rest in the parking lot
According to CHP, Mr. Schwartz was determined to be allegedly under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest. He was not injured.
