Alleged Rim Fire starter Emerald, released on bail

We can never forget what
was done to our beautiful
forest and the animals who
lived there!
After turning himself in to authorities on August 12, 2014, Keith Emerald spent 4 whole days in the Fresno County Jail.

We have learned that his parents and grandmother apparently took out retirement money and put up property in Montana as guarantee that Emerald won't skip out on bail.

Emerald has been charged by the Federal authorities with allegedly setting the Rim Fire, an illegal campfire, lying to authorities and abandoning a campfire, which led to a 257,000 acre destruction of the Stanislaus National Forest, parts of Yosemite and more wildlife than anyone wants to admit.

It took nearly a year before Emerald, a Columbia resident, was charged, making many in the public wonder who he knows or who might be trying to protect the hunter.

What do you think a fitting punishment should be?
1-2 years 3-4 years 5-6 years 7-10
10+ years in jail? Or any alternative punishments? Like having him have to devote all of his time to working as a Fire fighter for FREE. When he is not fighting fires he is clearing brush and dead trees from the forest. Throwing the guy in Jail is going to cost us even more $ and we get nothing out if it!

Why wasn't this hunter charged with arson. in another fire a man who drove his car over dry grass and started a fire was charged with arson, wasn't he?

Well, I personally believe he should be charged with killing all the poor animals in the forest. Why isn't that murder?
