On August 20, 2014 at around 2:15 PM Angels Camp Police arrested Lester Borges Diaz, (29) of Escalon on Hwy 49 near Carol Kennedy Drive for alleged Assault
with a Deadly Weapon, not a firearm, Evading a Police Office with disregard for Public Safety, Vehicle Theft, Evading a Police Officer, with the possibility of causing injury or death and Receiving Stolen Property, all felonies, and for Evading a Peace Officer and Obstruction or Resisting a Peace Officer, both misdemeanors.
Diaz was booked into the Calaveras County Jail
Also arrested at the time was Melanie Lynnae Rife (27) of Escalon for alleged Assault with a Deadly Weapon, not a firearm, Evading a Peace Officer with Disregard for Public Safety, Vehicle Theft, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Receiving Stolen Property over $400 and Evading a Peace Officer with the possibility of causing Serious Bodily Injury or death, all felonies and for a Narcotic Addict in Possession for Purchase and Obstructing or evading arrest, both misdemeanors.
Rife was also booked into the Calaveras County Jail by a Sheriff's deputy.
