What is Calaveras County charging for Public Questions??

On March 11, 2015 after watching the Board of Supervisor meeting, we asked Mr. Joseph Kelly what paper it was that Calaveras Supervisor Edson was so nastily trying to get you to take from him during a meeting.

Mr. Kelly provided us with a copy of a bill he received from Mr. Edson later, stating what was apparently owed to the County for his DARING to ask questions. No wonder people in other areas think we are a bunch of 'hicks'!

We asked the Supervisors to explain what was going on and when this started and also asked how much the press was being charged for asking questions like this about what is going on at the County.

In response to our questions, Megan Stedtfeld, County Counsel said it was "Supervisor Edson's idea" to do it to Joseph Kelly, apparently because he doesn't like the questions Kelly asks.

She also said there is no written code about charging anyone in the public, including the press, for answering questions posed. She also stated that this bill is not a legitimate bill and Mr. Kelly does not owe the County anything. What is wrong with Mr. Edson's thinking?

So this seems to have all been done by Supervisor Edson, just to Joseph Kelly, because he is apparently not happy with Edson's policies and actions.

How embarrassing is it to Calaveras County that we have a Supervisor like that sitting on the Board?

Mr. Edson must have forgotten that he was going to get the information, there was no public discussion of sending a member of County Counsel's office to ask the 10 questions. In reality, the same day, right after the agenda item I had a chat with the Code Enforcement Officer. He provided the answers to my questions. If Mr. Edson had let the officer answer publicly which is what happens in a representative government as is stated in the Brown Act Secton 54950. All would have been informed, timely. It appears Mr. Edson hasn't read the Brown Act or doesn't care about public input so that they can understand how the taxpayer's money is spent.

What does he care, he is the only supervisor it appears to be above the law. He likes to drive the wrong way on one way streets and parks the wrong way while he makes his presence known after a gathering.

By the way, Mr. Edson what have you done in your 2 years, 3 months tenure? Don't say "You brought education to Calaveras County". Check the statistics.

Mr. Edson, since you are chair of the board this year. I have another question for you: Where is the Sheriff's Office Gun Range as was mentioned during the probation officers to carry weapons agenda item? Is it a legal gun range?

Whenever I read about your bouts with our local BOS I'm thankful we live in America. It appears that the BOS seem content to be:
