Three arrests in Wallace

    On March 30, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested James Cordy Bauer (41) of Wallace on Pattison Road in Wallace for allegedly being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Prohibited Ammunition and Possession of a Short Barreled Rifle,
all felonies and for Possessing or Owning a Firearm without Identification, a misdemeanor.

   Bauer was booked into the Calaveras County Jail and released on Bond.

   Also arrested on Pattison at the same time was Eric Nathan Borja, (29) of Lodi for allegedly being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possessing prohibited Ammunition, two charges of Possessing a Short Barreled Rife or Shotgun and an outstanding Warrant for Vehicle Theft, all felonies, in addition to Possessing a Firearm without Identification, a misdemeanor.

   Borja was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

   The third man arrested was for James Milton Buckley, Jr. (37) of Wallace, arrested at his residence on Pattison in Wallace for allegedly being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possessing Prohibited Ammunition and Possession of a Short Barreled Shotgun or Rifle, all felonies and for Possessing a firearm without identification, a misdemeanor.

   Buckley was also booked into the Calaveras County Jail and released on bond.

I hope you follow up on this. Was bail substantial? Will they actually be prosecuted or will they get a plea deal that amounts to a slap on the wrist? I have no sympathy for the NRA but they are correct in saying we don't need new gun laws until existing gun laws are vigorously enforced.

I regard felons who obtain firearms that are illegal to possess even by non-felons as a serious offense.
