During the tenure of the now deceased Sheriff Kuntz, the Calaveras Sheriff's Departments' reputation went from bad to worse.
Women victims reportedly abused, ignored, lawsuits in the department, unrest
among deputies, and on and on.
But now DeBasilio, the head of the Deputies Union and Captain Eddie Ballard say they want no one appointed as Sheriff from outside the department because they don't want any changes.
After all the coverups over the corruption at the department, including Kuntz protecting his racist buddies from prosecution, you would think they would beg for changes. Why not?
And for Eddie Ballard, who was the most staunch supported of Pat Garrahan during the last election, to now say he wants no "outsider" is suspicious to say the least.
The Sentinel had originally supported appointing Ballard to the position, but now we question his motives! Changes NEED to occur at the Calaveras Sheriff's Office!!

When I saw that fry guy get up there, I knew something was wrong. He knew all about the corruption involving Kuntz. cannot trust that weirdo.
