Car thief struck by owners vehicle

   UPDATE of earlier report:  Per the CHP report on March 18, 2016 just before 1 AM a vehicle was stolen by a 42 year old male of Jamestown, from the front of another 48 year-old man's place of business
on Cuesta Court in Sonora.

    The owner of the stolen vehicle followed the stolen vehicle in another vehicle. After a short distance, the driver of the stolen vehicle parked it near Tuolumne Road and Hess Avenue and got out to walk away.

   The owner of the stolen vehicle arrived at the same time and struck the car thief, resulting in major injuries.   He was transported to Sonora Regional and then to Doctors Medical in Modesto with major head trauma.

   The driver of the vehicle that struck the injured man was uninjured and remained at the scene for authorities to arrive.  The names are being withheld due to the severity of the injuries and the ongoing investigation.
