UPDATE:  We want to thank everyone who is helping. We now have a complete and accurate list of each item and its donor that was stolen. Now the work truly begins.

*****
UPDATE:  Thank you to the first parent to email us and remembers it well. You are wonderful!
*******
The Sierra Sentinel has decided to conduct an investigation into over $1000 of raffle items stolen in two baskets that were for children. We are told that the thieves are suspected of still living in the area.

If you received any gifts around Christmas time over three years ago, which seemed to have been from a raffle of some type, please send us an email and let us know.

We now have a detailed list of the items stolen from the children and if we get enough evidence, we will turn it over to the DA.  Please help find the thieves who steal from children!!!

There is a statute of limitations on filing charges against these no-good thieves and any help you can give is appreciated.  You may remain anonymous.

The gifts would have been restaurants, golf, and other gifts, all donated by wonderful local businesses.  How could even the lowest forms of life steal from children.

Send any information you believe could be helpful to sierrasentinel@goldrush.com . We know there are many good people out there. These thieves are the few, the bad, the sick!!

Stealing from children? That's the lowest of the low!! What part of the county. Can I help?

Is this the one where everyone complained about some old fat couple making out during an event? Everything about them was suspicious. I will email you to find out.

I think I'm going to be sick. I remember turning two people in because I thought something weird was going on, but nothing happened. Why didn't the Sheriff arrest them at the time?

I want to know if you will publish the name of this person or persons if you find them?

Why have these people gotten away with this for so long? These are true scum of the earth. Anyone who does things to children in any way is lower than low. I hope you get them.

I bet anything this was a non-profit. Often they are afraid to turn thieves in because they are embarrassed that thieves are in their midst. Good for you for going after the thief.

Its just like the abuse in the catholic church. if someone stole from children, they need to be arrested.

I bet I know why the Sheriff didn't investigate. We had to try and investigate our own burglary. They were too lazy at the Sheriff's office.

How exciting. Here's a clue for you. It almost has to be someone who hates children in general and may have a history of problems involving children. Not just anyone could steal from kids.

Anonymous said...

I think you're right about that. Let's all ask around. Someone will know something.

OOOOMMMMMGGGG. The comment about the fat old couple making out rings a bell. Was it them, or one of them?

Anonymous said...

I agree with the hates children comment. concentrate on that. you'll find them.

As usual, Sierra Sentinel, it looks as if you've hit a Calaveras County nerve. How many non-profits fail to report or even investigate alleged thefts. Its time that changed.

If this is a non-profit theft, was it a volunteer, an employee or a (heaven forbid) Board member?

It's hard to believe that people this terrible could actually remain in the County. I'm sure there are other crimes they have committed. People like this are serial thieves and criminals. Who could ever steal from kids?

Anonymous said...

I'd be willing to bet this person steals from their employer and everywhere they go.

If this person is sticking around, they must be a practiced liar.

Anonymous said...

this kind of person has been a thief since childhood and is probably capable of lying quickly and make it sound good.

Anyone who continue staying in the area must be pathological. They probably actually believe they deserve what they steal.

Anger towards children should be dealt with before people are allowed to be around them. How could anyone steal from them. Hard to believe.

Anonymous said...

I'm sure they've left the area by now. Only true scum could stay after hurting children.

Anonymous said...

I love how you are doing this methodically. Will you expose the name when you find who it is?

Anonymous said...

How can I help. I'm so sick of these creepy thieves stealing from Calaveras non-profits.

Anonymous said...

You're right to do this yourself. I"ve seen the DA and the sheriff's office ignore grand theft like this.

I remember some VS lady who stole money and I don't even know if she got caught or not. that was kids too.

These type of people had to have learned to lie from their families, probably from childhood. Hope you get them. I've been asking around.

Anonymous said...

Is it possible this person may have a crazy friend who is trying to cover for them? This person has a big mouth and now i'm suspicious.

Anonymous said...

Thank goodness for the big mouths. They always help get criminals like this one. there is a lot of talk going on.

Anonymous said...

As a retired cop I know that we always eventually get a big mouth who gives it away.

What if this person decides they will pay it back. Would you stop then? Their family must already be terribly embarrassed. Everyone is talking about it.

Anonymous said...

glad to c this back on top. I don't think this person cares about their family's reputation. shounds like the lies have gone on for most of their life. The family may well have set the example.

Anonymous said...

I have a non-profit theft I know about. would you investigate that one, too. I'll email you the details.

Anonymous said...

I really believe you are going to get this person. Theiving runs in the families, anyway. I'm sure they are saying, deny, deny, deny. I can hardly wait til you get 'em.

This could be the family that steals together, lies together, what do you tink?
