Asphalt big rig crash on Hwy 49

   UPDATE at 11:45 AM:  Traffic is still one-way and could be for another 45 minutes or so for asphalt cleanup.

   UPDATE at 9:55 AM:  Hwy 49 is now open to one-way traffic control through this crash site.   Approximately 12 tons of asphalt spilled on roadway.

   UPDATE at 9:35 AM:  Several CHP units
are at the scene of this crash. Avoid the area if possible.


  October 20, 2016 at 9:15 AM:  A big rig asphalt truck and a red Toyota have reportedly collided on Hwy 49 near the Amador and Calaveras County line. An ambulance is en route to the scene.

   The asphalt truck rolled and the driver is trapped. Caltrans has been notified due to asphalt being spilled.  Be cautious as this collision is blocking the roadway. The Calaveras Sheriff's Office has been notified.
