According to CHP on May 20, 2017 Robert Gaa (59) of Valley Springs was riding his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on Hwy 12 near Hwy 49 in San Andreas, sometime between the evening of Saturday May 20 and Sunday May 21, 2017.
Gaa was negotiating a curve to his left at an unknown speed when he slowed his motorcycle to drift right and off the roadway.
Gaa traveled down an embankment where he collided with several trees before coming to a stop in a grass pasture below the north roadway edge of Hwy 12.
Gaa succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision on May 23, 2017. A pedestrian walking on Hwy 12 discovered the collision and flagged down a passing vehicle to have them notify 911.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in this collision.
