CHP reports that on February 1, 2013 at approximately 12:40 PM Thomas Ackerman (62) of Fairfield, was driving a Freightliner with trailer on Hwy12 westbound east of (lower) Double Springs Rd.
Ackerman stated that an unknown eastbount oncoming vehicle swerved into his lane, according to CHP.
In an attempt to avoid the unknown vehicle, Ackerman swerved right. Then he tried to correct his course of travel by swerving left per the report.
Ackerman subsequently lost control of his vehicle, which crossed over solid double yellow lines, continued over eastbound land and overturned on the dirt shoulder of Hwy 12.
Ackerman sustained minor injuries as a result of this collision and was transported via American Legion Ambulance Service to Mark Twain Hospital .
Thomas Ivey (41) of Fairfield, sustained moderate injuries as a result of this collision and was transported via air ambulance to Doctors Hospital of Modesto.
