Callaway Nixes Lake Tulloch Rentals Rules

Supervisor Callaway was correct in her questioning the entire  Lake Tulloch rental policy
that Supervisor Spellman praised so much, and compares to hot dogs.

The entire idea of having special rules for just vacation rentals at Lake Tulloch, being enforced by the County of Calaveras instead of their Homeowners Association is ludicrous.

Either these policies for the entire county or nothing. We foresee lawsuits. But the County has nothing but money to spend babysitting for certain Homeowners Association.

Melinda Hoff brought up the issue of liability and discrimination and does the Sheriff do bed-check counts? And why not use the new noise ordinance?

Bernadette of Lake Tulloch Resort brought up the fact that Planning has put this process under Title 20, which is just about the lake itself, not about rentals. She's right, and when we tried to bring it up to Planning they brushed us off..

In the end, trying to keep Supervisor Spellman quiet was not possible, but the rest of the Board approved bringing this back in one month with changes recommended.

Callaway is the only one with good sense. This is not a good ordinance. Spellman simply didnt' make any sense at all, saying things like "if you vote for a sunset clause, they will use it against you in your next election." and "just like last year, I'm the only one who wants to be 'legal'." He wanted to pass it as it was.

We have to ask ourselves, knowing that he is only interested in getting re-elected, is anyone at Tulloch offering him money for his next campaign if he can push it through.  If so, they need to know that no other Board members ever listen to what Spellman says. Never have, never will, in our opinion.

Why were so many property owners NOT NOTIFIED???

Come on Sierra Sentinel. You know her better than that. It was just an act to cover, so the realtors will vote for her next time. She knows darn well it will pass, so she is safe. Phony phony, lady of baloney callaway.

Should vacation rental regulations apply to all vacation rentals in the county? That's what Superviaor Callaway is worried about. Is the county collecting TOT from all of the vacation rentals in the county? Does the county even know of all the vacation rentals in the county?
