Coyote Hunt Contest Criticized

In a little town called Adin in Modoc County, a contest was held last weekend to see who could kill the most coyotes in the county.

The organizers of the event, Adin Supply Co., - described as the only store in the tiny town and the River Rod and Gun Club were tight-lipped when asked how many hunters were participating.

Camilla Fox, executive director of Project Coyote, said "We feel the killing of coyotes or any other wild animal as part of a contest is unethical, ehtically indefensible and contrary to sound science."

The group promotes what it terms "educated coexistence" between people and coyotes.

It is not known at this time how many coyotes were killed in the contest.

A good coyote is a deceased coyote.
