LaVahn MacWillie of San Andreas

   LaVahn MacWillie, who turned 99 years old last September, passed away on February 2, 2013 at her home in San Andreas, surrounded by family and friends.


   LaVahn Buhrmann was born on September 23, 1913 in Lucca, North Dakota and attended North Dakota State University and the University of California, Berkeley.

   She moved to San Andreas in 1943 and the following year married John MacWillie Jr.

    LaVahn was a teacher at Calaveras High School between 1943 and 1949 and again between 1962 and 1974.

   She and her husband were early and active members of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, where she was the principal organist for many years.

   She was a member of American Association of University Women, the Episcopal Church Women, and the NDSU Alumni Association.

   She is survived by her son, John and his wife Jan of Berkeley, her daughter Debbie Langford of San Andreas, and three grandchildren, Elizabeth of Cambridge, Massachussetts, Devon Langford and his wife Amy of Patterson, and Melissa Langford of San Andreas.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, John Jr., who passed away in 1993.

   Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11 AM at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 414 Oak St in San Andreas.

   Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church.
