Letter to the Editor....About Safety in Calaveras County

   Dear Editor:

   After following the recent exchanges and hearing for myself what is really going on in Calaveras County, my wife and I have determined it is not safe here.

   We live in Ebbetts Pass and while some tell me its ok, that its just a few crazies who are threatening and harassing, stealing, whatever, to others, l disagree.

   Not only have we armed ourselves, but we have set out cameras and when at a local coffee shop, we heard racist talk, it only confirmed our fear that a Ku Klux Klan is active here.

   They may not use that name, but they are just as mentally disturbed. One person told me they are trying to take over Ebbetts Pass and scare everyone else out.

   We will not be scared out, but we will protest ourselves as others have indicated. It seems that it is this current Sheriff causing it, failing to do his job to protect us. 

    Either way, you are correct Sentinel, that we have a right to protect ourselves and our property from these total nut cases, if the law won't do it. Soon everyone will be armed. Isn't that just great!!

  I hear the local gun shop is thrilled about it. What should be a peaceful and enjoyable place to live is actually a place of fear and constant danger.
