Pat Garrahan Officially Announces for Calaveras Sheriff

Valley Springs resident Pat Garrahan today announced he is running for Calaveras County Sheriff.

Garrahan is a United States Marine Corps Veteran and has over three decades of professional law enforcement experience.

In a press release he states "The Sheriff should be, and have the reputation for being a law enforcement leader, not a lone institution. We must work collaboratively with our partners to ensure that public safety, not politics, carries the day."

He plans to bring his extensive experience and perspective to the County Sheriff's Office where he promises to build a more efficient, effective, and open organizational structure within the agency.

"We need to focus on proactive crime prevention, reduce response times, and better utilize available technology to improve communication with the community," Garrahan continued.

Garrahan lives in Valley Springs with his wife of 36 years, Kate. She is the school librarian at Jenny Lind Elementary School.

They have three grown children and five grandchildren and have been residents of Calaveras County for 22 years.

The Countywide election for Sheriff will be on June 3, 2014.  For more information, visit www.garrahanforsheriff.com
