Letter to the Editor: About Sheriff's Office

  Dear Editor:

My wife and I appreciate that you publish the burglaries in the Ebbetts Pass area.  We have been concerned for some time that nothing is being done about them and others in Calaveras.

I noticed that they are able to catch juveniles for cutting down a tree, but can't seem to catch the druggies that I believe burglarize our homes.

Where are their priorities, anyway.  I have a neighbor who was robbed and broken into awhile back and the first thing everyone suspected was the neighbors.

Would the Sheriff's Office listen? NO!  They just ignored the suspicions of all of us and wrote up a report.  Of course, nothing ever happened. Stuff gone, forever, to DRUGGIES habits, we suspect.

One deputy I spoke with some time ago, was simply not interested in my ideas that the neighbors should be the first suspects in break-ins and robberies.

I hope we get a new Sheriff who will get the residents priorities straight. It's like this Sheriff is friends with the criminals.

I don't think its the entire force. but at the top there is a serious problem that needs to be cleaned out. I agree with that.
