Gloria Dolores Gemberling of Copperopolis

Gloria Dolores Gemberling, daughter of Robert and Maude Kauffan, was born March 20, 1933 and entered into eternal rest on April 14, 2014.

Gloria lived her life to the fullest - with love, patience, kindness and respect for those around her.

Gloria was born in the farmland of Rebuck, Pennsylvania. She studied nursing and soon received her RN certificate.

After being courted by George Gemberling from Shamokin Dam, Pennsylvania for 1 1/2 years, they married on March 26, 1954 and settled in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.

For the next 60 years they were inseparable. Within a span of ten years Mom & Dad had four children - Steve George, Kevin Gene, Lori Elaine and Matthew Paul.

Moving to California in 1962, Mom & Dad bought their first home in Fremont where they spent the next 35 years raising their family.

During this time Dad worked for United Airlines in San Francisco while Mom worked at Washington Hospital in Fremont.

Throughout her 35 year career as an RN, Mom always gave her best to her patients and coworkers alike - first at Selinsgrove State Hospital in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania and finally at Washington Hospital in Fremont.

Around 1990 Mom & Dad bought their second home in Copperopolis, which served as their "weekend get away".

In 1997 they sold their home in Fremont and officially moved into their Copperopolis residence.

It was in this home, with two of her family members present, that Mom succumbed to health problems on April 14, 2014.

Throughout her life, family and friends remained the most important thing to Mom. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, playing with grandkids and just about anything else that involved family.

Mom also enjoyed playing games, and thought she was quite good at Bingo!

Our Mom was the loving mother of four children, loving grandmother of five grandchildren and loving great-grandmother of two great-grandchildren.

Our Mom was a giver with a gentle spirit.  She loved and guided her children and grandchildren all the days of her life.

Gloria is survived by her husband George, her children Steven (Victoria, Kevin (Lisa), Lori and Matthew (Claudia).

She is also survived by her grandchildren Amanda, Samantha, Anthony, Michael, and Shane, and her great-grandchildren Payton and Bentley.

Mom, you left us too soon, We miss you every day, but the love you gave will sustain us until we meet again. Please know that you will forever be in our hearts.

In honor of Gloria's life and legacy, a celebration in her memory will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, May 2, 2014 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church at 13880 Joshua Way in Sonora, CA 95370 .

If you wish to make a donation in Gloria's name, please do so to your charity of choice.
