Animal Legal Defense Fund helps abused animals

This lucky black bear is still free
to play in the rivers.
The Animal Legal Defense Fund gathered 200,000 signatures and filed a lawsuit against an ice cream parlor owner who imprisoned a female black bear in a small enclosure for over 16 years.

Ricky is now in Colorado at a wildlife sanctuary. Now they are suing to free two chimpanzees from a University in New York state.

There is a court hearing coming soon on whether these two chimps have human characteristics and should have rights as humans.

They have also been instrumental is getting the $200,000 in fines against Ringling Brothers for their treatment of elephants. Ringling has decided to phase out using elephants, who are chained for most of their lives.

If you can stand it, take a look at their website. They help all kinds of animals who are abused by humans.
