The three little bears

UPDATE:  We appreciate the long comment from the woman with the three bear cubs.

Often we aren't given names, and don't have
all the details; therefore have to go by what we read from the Sheriff.

First of all, you cannot leave garbage, pet food or other enticements out or you will have wild critters on your doorstep.

We are thrilled to hear that you walked right up to them and one even licked your leg, meaning that they are not violent towards humans.

All too often we hear that the USDA paid assassin, hurries out to shoot anything at the invitation of a property owner, so it is a relief that you say they did not come out to kill the cubs.

If there is no food for them, the cubs will go elsewhere. Obviously they are old enough to survive without their mother at this time, and that is encouraging.

Put a tight lid (odorproof) on your garbage cans and keep them inside your garage. Do not feed your pets outdoors.

The wild creatures are also very thirsty in this drought and may be searching for water, so if you fear them, simply leave out no water of any kind.

Black bears are not normally aggressive and violent. Only a mother bear will aggressively try to defend her cubs from a human. I can't find any record of a death from a black bear in California.

Too bad Calaveras County doesn't have something like the organizations in the Lake Tahoe area, who help people who fear bears deter them without harming them.  There are several, like the Bear League, who try to prevent the killings by these willing USDA paid assassins.

Finally, the bear cubs have a right to live, too. We need to learn to live with the wild animals we moved here to enjoy.

If you send the sierrasentinel@goldrush.com an email , we will try and give you more assistance, aside from trying to have them removed by the paid assassins of the USDA.

On August 11, 2015 a woman on Rodesino Road in Mountain Ranch called and said it was the 2nd time she called to get three bear cubs removed from her area.

She reported that no mother bear had been seen at any time. She was transferred to Fish and Wildlife.  The poor things; mother probably killed by someone.

Is she really afraid of three little bear cubs?  Sometimes people shock us!
