Fatal collision in West Point

   According to CHP on November 9, 2019 at approximately 10:10 PM the 65 year old male driver of a 1998 Chevy Tahoe
was driving eastbound on Hwy 26 near Niderost Lane in West Point at an unknown rate of speed.

   For an unknown reason he allowed his vehicle to leave the roadway then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to spin out of control across both lanes of traffic.

   The vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree, then overturned and came to rest north of the roadway on it's left side.

   The driver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The name is being withheld pending notification of kin.

   The investigation of this collision is continuing, including whether alcohol or drugs were involved.
