With over a foot of new snow in Arnold, Bear Valley should be thrilled this morning since they likely got over 3 feet.
Sudden shift from a dry fall to a white winter is only a problem while the roadways are being cleared. Drive slowly and don't take any chances. If you need chains, use them.
