False imprisonment arrest in Copperopolis

On November 10, 2021 Calaveras Sheriff deputies investigated an alleged assault that took place

in the 3000 block of Snowbird Ct in Copperopolis.

Kenneth Carnes (43) of Oakdale allegedly assaulted the victim, using a knife to the victim's throat. They did not locate Carnes at his residence in Copperopolis.

Carnes was observed by a deputy at the home next door. Deputies located Carnes hiding in a closet and he was arrested without further incident.

He was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for two alleged counts of burglary, false imprisonment with violence, assault with a deadly weapon, drug possession and 5 knives.

Carnes is being held without bail, and he apparently has a felony warrant out of Stanislaus County.

The Calaveras Sheriff's Office reminds residents to carefully secure their homes when they leave.
