According to CHP on August 11, 2023 around 7:10 PM a head-on collision was reported
on Hwy 4 near Telegraph Drive in Copperopolis.A 25 year old male (San Mateo) was driving a 2020 Honda eastbound on Hwy 4 at a high rate of speed. Quang Tran (37) of San Jose was driving a 2020 Lexus westbound at approximately 60 MPH
As the two vehicles approached one another, the driver of the Honda drove into the westbound lane for an unknown reason, directly into the path of the Lexus.
The two vehicles collided head-on in the westbound lane and came to a rest blocking the roadway.
As a result all three occupants in the Honda sustained fatal injuries. The three in the Lexus were flown to Doctors Hospital in Modesto with moderate to major injuries, including a 4 year old girl.
A two year old in the Lexus received moderate injury and was taken to Doctors Hospital. Two 72 year olds, also in the Lexus, received major injuries and were taken to Modesto Memorial Hospital.
The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made.
