Powerhouse Fire continues to grow-DC 10 brought in

A Type 1 Management team took over this fire at 6 AM June 3, 2013 It is amazing!  The Powerhouse Fire in the Angeles National Forest just continues
to grow and grow. It is not at 29,584 acres and still only 20% contained; that's the part that is already blackened.

USFS repports that critical watershed and T & E species continue to be impacted. There are three firefighter injuries.

Hikers on the Pacific Coast Trail are being rerouted. Evacuations have been difficult, especially for animals. Emergency animal shelters have been set in Castaic.

In spite of all of this there are still only 975 firefighters assigned to this fire. Also now battling this fire are 8 helicopters, 7 dozers,  8 air tankers, incliding the DC10 and 93 engines and 12 water tenders.
