Traffic Accident in West Point

CHP reports that on June 4, 2013 around 4:20 PM  Hood (first name not given) (15) year old male of West Point was driving a 2007 Toyota Prius in the eastbound traffic lane of Hwy 26 at Woodhouse Mine Rd. in West Point, at a stated speed of 35 MPH.

According to the report, due to fatigue, Hood allowed the Toyota to travel to the right and off the paved portion of the roadway while attempting to negotiate a natural curve in the roadway to his right.

The Toyota then struck and traveled up a steep embankment, re-entering the eastbound traffic lane, overturning.

The vehicle then came to rest on its left side facing a southerly direction blocking the eastbound traffic lane.

Both Hood and passenger Dianne Rogers (69) of Columbia were wearing seatbelts and the left side airbag deployed.

Hood refused all treatment of his minor injuries.  Rogers was taken to Sutter Amador Hospital with moderate injuries.
