December 18, 2013 UPDATE: The Pfeiffer Fire at Big Sur is now 769 acres and 20% contained. They hope to have it fully contained by Friday night.
There is a community meeting scheduled for 4 PM at Big Sur to update residents on the 500+ acres fire that had already destroyed 15 homes, including that of the local Fire Chief.
While the incident is still under investigation, it is believed possible that hikers started an illegal campfire on one of the main trails.
