Sheriff's Department doing CHP's job?

What is going on at the Calaveras Sheriff's Department?  In the past year or so, we have heard so many complaints about the Sheriff having no desire to arrest the real criminals.

Lately all the arrests they seem to make are of those already on probation through regular checks. And now we hear they are doing CHP's job.

Two different residents of Ebbetts Pass have complained about the deputies; "They just hang out on the highway waiting for someone to pull over".

One person told us that they were pulled over by a deputy because the deputy couldn't see the license plate through the trailer hitch. Unbelievable.

Now this morning we hear that a man was pulled over on the Hwy for having a missing tag on his license plate.

Then the deputy blocked entrance to a business.  When the owner complained, the deputy made a smart remark that he "had business" there.

Calaveras Sheriff deputies are known to harass that particular man they pulled over this morning. And there is no excuse for it.

This boils down to Calaveras County not having a viable Sheriff as everything goes right from the top to the bottom.

We understand a complaint was made about the deputy and that the deputy then came into the business and tried to tell the owner he needed to have a "private" talk with him.

Apparently the owner told him he had already made a complaint and to leave. Why can't the deputies do their jobs instead of harassing drivers and bothering businesses?

No wonder they don't catch our burglar. They hang out on the highways chasing traffic citations.
