Dear Editor:
I just read your article on the new ONLY religion allowed in Calaveras County. I know that the elected officials Ponte and Edson, the extremist religious nuts, are an embarrassment and should not have ever been elected.
I don't mention Spellman, because he is a GONER!! You are right when you say that he only brought this Resolution to the Board originally to help SAVE his re-election.
There is a reason that Church and State need to be kept separate; look at Israel and Palestine, and everywhere religion is the main force of government. War, death, hate and constant violence, not to mention bad treatment of women.
Practice your religion in your church and your home and not in OUR government. Leave the rest of us alone to believe as we wish. This was nothing more than a way of pushing anti-women's rights into OUR government.
Now our battling Supervisors are making fools of themselves and are hating each other. It has made me turn even MORE against organized religions.

I totally disagree with your assessment. Women who lay down with men or boys deserve the punishment of childbirth. It is their sin and their sin alone and they should be punished. That is what these religions are trying to tell everyone.

There are a lot of ignorant people in Calaveras. Obviously most of them came to that meeting.

u know, we here in the states are in a battle too. it hasn't come to blows yet. wait, right-wing extremists have killed doctors who perform abortions.
what really tees me off is that they spent nearly 4 hours wasted on religion and they do NOTHING to help us regular people with jobs-nothing!!!
