Letter to the Editor....About our Calaveras Tax Assessor

   Dear Sierra Sentinel Editor:

I can't believe you haven't mentioned the insanity that went on when the Calaveras Board of Supervisors and their Clerk attempted to put a FEE
on people who Appeal their tax assessment.

You were correct when you stated prior to the meeting that the Board Clerk had just been given a big raise and now she is trying to justify it.

The best part, however, was when Leslie Davis, our Calaveras Tax Assessor, came to the podium and RAKED the idea and the people behind it, over the coals.

She stated correctly that they are attempting to collect money in any way they can and that means that they are charging taxpayers for services they ALREADY pay for with their property taxes.

Then she again criticized them for cutting her department and yet trying to raise money from the public to pay for their CLERK in Administration.

I'm so proud that we have an Assessor who stands her ground and takes NO guff from these ill-repute Supervisors and their CLERKS!

Thanks for publishing this letter, and thank you Ms. Davis!
