Traffic Collision in Double Springs

According to CHP records, on December 12, 2015 at approximately 7:34 AM Marshall Biondi (17) of Valley Springs was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer westbound on Double Springs Road
west of Hwy 26 at approximately 55 MPH.

Biondi entered a left hand curve in the roadway marked as a 30 MPH curve,  but failed to appropriately adjust his vehicle's speed for the curve.

Due to Biondi's speed he was unable to safely negotiate the curve and allowed the vehicle to travel onto the north gravel shoulder.

Biondi then turned the vehicle back to the left abruptly onto the roadway and once again to the right where he lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle traveled off the south side of the roadway and down a slight dirt embankment where it began to overturn.

The vehicle overturned an unknown number of times as it traveled through a barbed wire fence and eventually came to rest on the driver's door facing in a southerly direction.

As a result of the collision, Biondi sustained moderate injuries and was transported via ground ambulance to Mark Twain Hospital where he was flown to Doctors Medial Center in Modesto fro treatment.

Passenger Arch Tanner (17) of Valley Springs was uninjured.  Drugs and/or alcohol are not believed to be a contributing factor in this collision.
