Box truck loses brakes on Old Priest Grade

On March 21, 2016 at around 6:30 AM Allan Friely (27) of Oakland was driving a 2014 International box truck westbound on Old Priest Grade above Jamestown.

Old Priest Grade has a 7500 pound weight limit and advises drivers to use first gear.

Due to the weight of the vehicle and the steep downhill grade the trucks brakes overheated.

Friely was unable to stop the vehicle and steered it into the embankment on the south shoulder.

Friely was transported by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
