Around 11:30 PM March 13, 2016 a Dodge Town and Country was struck head-on by a Chevy truck on Hwy 4 at the Old River Bridge in Discovery Bay.
The van overturned into the canal beneath the bridge. The 3 children were pulled out alive, but the two adults in the front seat were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevy was taken to a hospital with major injuries.
Hwy 4 was closed for several hours due to this collision.
