On March 8, 2016 at around 1:30 PM CHP reports that a 2012 Ford Fusion driven by Erica Hopkins (43) of Valley Springs was in the MarVal parking lot off Hwy 12 in Valley Springs.
Patricia Vanderpool (84) also of Valley Springs was pushing her grocery cart in the parking lot at MarVal when Hopkins turned and hit the cart, knocking Vanderpool to the ground.
Vanderpool sustained minor injuries and was transported to Mark Twain Medical Center for treatment.
Per CHP drugs and or alcohol were not a factor in this collision.
