As of 7 AM on August 8, 2016 the Soberanes Fire, burning in the Big Sur, Hwy 1 areas of Monterey County, is 60,400 acres.
Containment is now at 45%. Started by an illegal campfire, this fire has destroyed 57 homes, 11 outbuilding and left 1 person dead and three others injured.
