Hwy 17 to get tunnel for wildlife

An attempt to avoid the
carnage on Hwy 17
is a tunnel with safe
land on either side.
After millions of complaints and wildlife deaths on Hwy 17 over the years, Caltrans has finally allocated money to try and solve the problem.

They will build a $3.1 million tunnel under the freeway to try and guide animals across the dangerous stretch of roadway. It's about time.  We need one or two on Hwy 4 too!

I read that the Santa Cruz Land Trust bought land on each side to help with this. Fantastic.

No hunting is allowed in the SC mountains either, I don't think. They care about their wildlife.
